Video introduction

Here is a 2 minute introduction-video of the platform, some technical solutions and educational workshops from sites and countries around the Baltic Sea.

What do all these terms mean?

Picture

Off-Grid

Introduction
Off-grid often means that something, a house or perhaps a village, is not connected to the main electricity grid. The solutions here on the platform can be exactly this, but some can also be connected to a grid and give power back, with the option to go off-grid when needed or wanted.

DIY

Introduction
DIY stands for "Do It Yourself", and often means that solutions can be made without specialised skills. This is true to some of the solutions, but perhaps not always. Sometimes parts of the solution is DIY and parts will require certification, such as electrical work, depending on country.

Renewable Energy

INTRODUCTION
The long dependance of fossil-fuels have had big effects on nature and different ecosystem, but what does renewable really mean, and what can be smart choices? The term LCA, Life Cycle Assessment, is one important tool to use when choosing different solutions and to understand their ecological footprint.

Rural Development

INTRODUCTION
Rural development is the process of improving the quality of life and economic well-being of people living in rural areas, often relatively isolated and sparsely populated areas. The conditions are often a bit different from urban areas, both regarding connection to natural resources, local engagement and social pattern.

welcome back to School!

Energy School
(no tests, no worries)

The world is as always changing, and maybe we all need to be students as we learn how to create and live in a world where we are less dependent on fossil-fuel?

The Energy School is ment to give background-information to the solutions presented on the platform, and more. It's here so that we can make more educated choices for ourselves and for nature.

In this school, we will learn:

1) What energy is and how it behaves

2) How heat and cold effects our buildings and what we perhaps should think about when making and living in them

3) How to create energy-systems that are effective in both energy, resources and cost, and how to design them to fit your needs

4) How to think in terms of sustainability and how to have critical thinking to different complex systems

5) What "lifecycle analysis" (LCA) is and what questions to ask when searching for more sustainable solutions

6) What technical solutions exists today, and what is expected to be apart of our near future

7-) more..
