Description
The project "Off-Grid DIY Renewable Energy for Rural Development" was initiated in order to connect actors in the Baltic Sea region and create a platform where ideas, solutions and activities connected to the topic could be spread to a wider community and audience.
The first part of the project, with activities in the period 2018-2021, has been funded by the EU (the European Agricultural fund for Rural Development) through LEADER and it’s LAG’s (local action groups) in Estonia, Finland Latvia, Lithuania and Sweden, together with pro-bono contributions from many of the organisations and participants. Actors and partners from these countries have met during the project-period through activities in each of the countries, in order to exchange knowledge, experiences and culture through workshops, seminars and planning-meetings.

Project partners & activitiesThe following is a list of the LAGs, partners and sites where solutions have already been installed, either prior to or during the project period. If you would like to find more info about the partners and the activities during the project, just follow the button below.
Some of this information can also be found under the connected solution, the blog off each country or under contact. |
The printed handbookOne of the results from the project is a printed handbook with a brief introduction to the topic and a few of the technical solutions described.
The book has been translated to the main language of each of the initial nations and printed by the LAGs. Here is an english version available for download.

Future developmentThe results from the initial project will continue to live on through the networks, relationships and platform, and even though the external funding from LEADER ends in 2021, the longevity of the platform is ensured until 2026. Pro-bono contribution from the created community and separate funding within each of the countries and connected organisations will also contribute to future events and activities. Communication and search for future funding for the project, or for an extended version of it, is ongoing. Off-grid DIY will thereby hopefully continue to grow and include more nations, partners and actors. |
