Welcome to
the technical
solutions

Introduction

This is the section of the platform where you will likely find the most valuable information, the actual solutions.

We hope that you will both learn from the current versions that is presented and feel inspired to contribute with your own knowledge, modifications or experiences from using and living with the ones that you choose to build or install.

Energy:

go to energy

Here are the solutions that are directly connected to energy systems. These are mainly focus on the production of electrical, heat and mechanical energy, as well as storage, control and monitoring.

You will see that some solutions are connected to more than one category or topic as they are part of or relying on more complex systems.

Buildings:

A substantial part of the energy that we use in our everyday life is for heating up our homes, greenhouses and other facilities, especially in areas with colder climates and during cold seasons.

Here are solutions that might help to provide efficient energy usages, or are a part of energy production or storage.

Soil-regeneration, food production & closed loops

One important function of energy in our everyday life lays in the food we need in order to think, move and keep us warm. Modern, industrial agriculture and food production has however for a long time been depleting the soils while relying on fossil fuels for big machines, and often non-local and fossil-fuel based fertilisers or pesticides.

Here are some solutions that both can produce energy and help retain valuable nutrients in our local system (instead of them creating a problem somewhere els), reduce the amount of atmospheric carbon or help to build new, healthy soils that can be used to produce new food, locally.
You can read and discover more about this topic in the energy school.

Do you want to upload your solution or
description?

If so, great! Here are some instructions for uploading new content or solutions. The content will first be sent to the Off-Grid DIY team for a quick review before being added to the platform.
Instructions for uploading solution
Please submit your solution by including your content in a text document or PDF, for example by using Google docs.

A list of the preferred content can be found below and is also in the structure that most solutions that you find here are presented, some with a few alterations.

Images & videos
Images or photos should preferably be included in the document.
Videos should preferably first be uploaded to youtube and the links should be included in document.

Using the form
When the document is ready it can be sent to the team by using the form below. If the maximum file size of 20 MB is exceeded, we urge you to either compress the size of the document, or dividing it into 2 separate files.
List of content that should be included:
1.Name of the solution

2.Category of solution
(e.g. energy source | scale | etc)

3.Short intro
(What it is/General idea of)

4.Complexity of building, operating and cost of the solution (LowMediumHigh)

5.A representable good quality photo
(not technical but for a cover)

6.Description of the solution

6.1. More details of the solution and technical description

6.2. Technical drawings and drafts
(can be handmade and simple)

6.3. Materials, skills and tools required

6.4. Other preconditions and/or requirements

6.5. Results, learnings and errors to avoid

7.Step by step guidelines for building the solution
(add photos when needed)

8.Video of the solution building workshop or process
(optional, preferably links to youtube)

9.Relevant links and articles

10.Cost Analysis and Life Cycle Analysis

11.Local Prototype(s)

11.1. Geographical territory

11.2. Context of the prototype

11.3. Who are the people, communities, institutions and
           organisations operating the
prototype/installation?

    11.4. Photos from the location

11.5. Videos (optional, preferably links to youtube)

12.Who has collected the information
(who filled in this framework)

13.Experts involved
(in developing the prototype or built the same solution somewhere else)

14.Contact information for more information about the solution and its location if publicly accessible

If you have any questions or experiencing problems with the upload, please  contact the off-grid team at: offgrid.rocks@gmail.com
